Crow Island Story

In the fall of 2011 on a Sunday evening in the northern suburbs near the shores of Lake Michigan, a group of mutual friends invited a couple of neighbors to jam on some ‘basement music.’ The chemistry, instrumentation, and harmonies created an energy to ‘pull it all together’ and form an ensemble, with a direction of playing great music, a mix of some of the finest Americana tunes, with the progressive endeavor to deliver a creative, clean and harmonic interpretation of this great collection of tunes. Over the years we continue to evolve and enjoy the process of playing some of the best in Americana Music.

The name Crow Island comes from the location of our ‘gathering’, near an elevated wooded area that at one time before the early 1900’s, was an isolated land mass among the marshlands of the north shore area of the Chicago suburbs, and on that elevation exists a grove of trees where crows congregated. We continue at times to ‘congregate’ (rehearse) near Crow Island Woods.
